When police officers need help choosing duty gear and other equipment, they turn to their fellow officers, or look for guidance from superiors in their department. Fugitive recovery agents, on the other hand, usually work alone and don’t have these same resources. So today, I’m going to share with you 7 things that bounty hunters should always carry. If you’d like to share your own advice or tips, please feel free to leave a comment!
Badge: When you’re looking to get information from people or to convey a sense of authority and legitimacy, a badge is worth a thousand words. One flash of the badge can earn you a lot of trust and compliance when you need it most. HWC offers several breast badge styles, including the bail enforcement officer style shown, as well as styles for fugitive recovery agents.
Badge holder: When time is of the essence and you need your badge, you don’t want to fumble around for it in your wallet. Our ID and badge holder can be worn around the neck, allowing you to keep your most important documentation handy. This is offered with rivets or Velcro, and the Velcro model can also be displayed over a belt or pocket.
Duty belt: A duty belt is a great way to keep your various gear and gadgets close at hand. Our Sam Browne belt is a popular choice. It’s made from full-grain leather, which will eventually conform to your body like only real leather can, but it won’t lose its strength in the process. HWC also offers a wide variety of holders, holsters, and cases to attach to your duty belt.
Handcuffs: A good pair of handcuffs is a necessity for bail enforcement officers. HWC offers a variety of handcuff styles, including rigid, hinged, and classic chain cuffs, like the ones shown. Some bail enforcement officers also recommend using leg cuffs for long-distance transports. To keep your cuffs safe and secure, HWC offers closed cuff cases.
Tactical mirror: This tactical mirror was designed to clip onto ASP expandable batons, but you can really clip it to anything you want. It allows you to discreetly peek around corners to locate fugitives or potential threats.
Clipboard: As a bounty hunter, you need to keep information about fugitives readily available. The Saunders Lite ‘n Write stores important documents inside, and features a clipboard on the outside to help you easily, neatly jot down information. A light bridge illuminates the writing surface with four long-lasting white LEDs, and the light bridge neatly tucks away into the compartment when not in use.
Handgun safety system: If your local laws allow you to carry a handgun for bail enforcement, be sure to keep it safe and secure. Our handgun safety system is the perfect choice.
Thanks for reading the HWC blog! Have a nice weekend.
